H Digitalt selvforsvar or “digital self-defense” is a strategic concept and community space aimed at metropolitans aged 20–25, created on behalf of the Scandinavian telecom company Telenor. Their brief was clear: they requested help positioning themselves as leading actors in the field of digital security.

Our conversations with the target group revealed that the majority knew very little about the safety measures available to avoid cybercrime and that being a victim of hacking and/or online scams was closely linked to feelings of shame and embarrassment. From this, our strategy and ambition emerged: for digitalt selvforsvar to function as a springboard for young adults to reclaim their rights and regain control in the digital sphere.
But how on earth can you convince a target group that has grown up with the internet (and therefore doesn't worry too much about its potential threats) to actively learn more about digital security? They clearly expressed that online classes weren't an option, which made us realize that it had to be packaged as a fun experience. That's how the concept became centered around workshops, talks, and events that not only provided knowledge but, more importantly, a social experience.

The concept, strategy, and visual identity behind digitalt selvforsvar were created in collaboration with Milla Blazek and Viola Krebbers. I was, however, especially in charge of defining a logo that matched the tone of voice and overall style of the concept.

I was personally in charge of defining the logo. It serves as the symbol for the community and what it stands for. We wanted it to be distinctive,
playful and unpredictable – like our target group.
We wanted to work with a playful and humorous tone of voice, to reinforce the community values. The visual identity was developed to
match this tone and the result is distinctive and recognizable. We used pixelation and overexposured colors to reflect the digital sphere.
An Instagram profile was created to provide more information and updates, as well as being able to interact with the target group.
