The American Dream / Interpreting NRAs Ideal America with
Motion Graphics Through the Lens of Satire/ 2022

H The devastating and ever-growing number of mass shootings in America, seemed to flood the news worldwide in the spring of 2022. Every week numerous articles and podcasts covered different perspectives on how to put an end to the violence, but what really stood out was NRAs (the National Rifle Association) approach. Their alleged solution was a never-ending arming of personnel, which seemed so absurd that I almost found it amusing – which is exactly what I wanted to emphasize with this project titled “The American Dream”. 

With two motion graphics (ironically) titled “Walmart Staples” and “NRAs Ideal America”, I explored how data visualization could be used to underline the absurdity of what the NRA stand for. By paring bizarre facts with cheery audio and a retro animation style, my aim was to use satire to take a critical stance against them.
